I cannot close a tax free account in a Capitec bank branch in which I opened the account in, and must wait 3 working days for a call from Capitec Bank to verify over the phone that I am really the account holder. This system is opening up the Capitec customers to scammers who can elicit info over the phone. The Capitec phone App uses selfies and the bank fingerprints but I am not allowed to close my account and transfer it to my savings. This system is totally customer unfriendly and to top it all I was informed by the Capitec consultant then, when I opened the account, that I could withdraw my money any time in the bank once it matures.
