September 2022 I called to find out if I can early upgrade my Data plan - Agent of 082 135 said phone in October then we can do it as we can early upgrade a month before the time.
I called on the 1st of October - Agent of 082 135 said that in order to upgrade early I have to take a package that is the same amount of data as my current package or more. This wasn't a good deal for me so he said then phone in November to do the upgrade when it's due so that I can take any package.
I called in November , on the 1st to be precise. I then went online after the go ahead to upgrade and I upgraded to the Huawei matepad 10.4 . Received a notification to wait 3 - 5 days for delivery via RAM couriers.
I kept tracking my parcel each day and to my surprise it kept saying failed delivery attempt, but nobody pitched at my address and no phone call received. I called Vodacom to ask what's happening and they said I must phone RAM.
I phoned RAM and they had the wrong number to contact me. They then apparently updated my number on their system but did not give the driver the correct number. The driver eventually came with the parcel to my work address. I presented my Green Barcoded South African ID and guess what. He refused to accept it, asking me - Don't you have a plastic ID card or passport because he was trained to accept thos documents and not the Green ID book.
So he said he will come back tomorrow with a supervisor to check the Green ID. this was around the 17th November 2022. The driver never came back. He rather returned the parcel to Vodacom and they updated their system by lying and saying that I did not present identification.
I then kept calling Vodacom at least twice a thrice daily to try and get the parcel sent to a Vodacome store instead to avoid the bad service of RAM couriers.
After sales then allocated a Vodacom shop at ClearWater mall for collection. I did not receive any communication as to where the parcel is. I then took the liberty of calling all 3 vodacom shops at Clearwater mall everyday to see if they received my package. And a big No from all 3 stores, they never received it ever.
I kept calling Vodaom 082 1945 to find out where the parcel is and the agent says to me that RAM is returning it again as they could not get hold of the Vodacom store for delivery to the store. Wow what a relationship Vodacom has with RAM.
Now it's month end of November 2022 and the agent and some guy ahead of the agent telling me that there's nothing they can do even if I have been waiting for more than 72 hours , I could even wait longer before they can do anything about this situation. I can't even cancel this upgrade which I do not even have posession of because the agent and colleague says that until they have it updated on the system and find the parcel, there's nothing they can do.
So I joined Vodacom to keep upgrading but now I have come to a standstill and I've tried to ask the agents nicely if I can escalate the matter and they only give me the customer care email address which never replies to me. So now I would be willing to meet up with the board of directors just to get this sorted out urgently. Because I was debited for my old package which I don't even need any longer. Now I'm sitting with an old package that I was so happy to upgrade but never happened. I'm paying for something that's dead to me now.
Vodacom being such a "reputable company" and after all my fantastic 5 star rating on Hellopeter - has now changed my idea of how reputable the company really is.
Surely there has to be a way for me to cancel this upgrade and Vodacom should be dealing with their own investigations with RAM as I have nothing to do with their issues with each other. Why should I be getting the end of the stick for something that I have done nothing wrong.
This is me trying to get through to someone that is determined to stand for Vodacom as reputable brand and live up to their name and help urgently with this situation.
I left this matter in all the agents hands that I called but now I have to keep escalating the matter to all outer parties until I get help.
