31st March 2022: I cancelled my Vodacom cellular insurance with insurance department via telephone.
I was aware that I was liable for payment at the end of April
10th of May: billed again for end of May according to invoice.
Called insurance department and he claimed it is cancelled but he wasn’t sure. He told me to call customer services, they lady advised that it is not cancelled as it is still appearing on her side. She then called insurance with me still on the line and the same gentleman I spoke to advised that if my debit order goes off then I must call back. I then advised that I do not pay via debit order but via eft and I already received the statement for May which means I will have to make the payment. He then said they could do a reversal of the payment goes off since it’s supposed to be cancelled. Both agents weee confused but said that maybe this was April’s premium that is still due. I reluctantly paid at the end of May.
Now I am being billed again for end of June, which means the insurance is clearly not cancelled. I
went to cape gate Vodacom store and the lady there said they cannot cancel any insurance.
The only reason I am still paying is so that it doesn’t affect my credit score- I have taken insurance for the phone with Outsurance so now it is costing me double because Vodacom is incompetent.
17 June:
Spoke to Barbara who advised that the insurance is not cancelled. Told her to cancel and I advised that it should’ve been cancelled in March . She then asked me for proof and I said she needs to check when I spoke to them since calls are recorded.
I have her the dates of my calls and she advised she would listen to the calls and get back to me. I haven’t heard anything back since.
I replied on hellopeter asking for feedback and sent numerous emails to no avail
30 June- called them to check if it was cancelled- they confirmed and send an sms to say that it was cancelled
However was still billed on the 10th of august.
Called in august to check as I was still being billed- received another sms to state it is cancelled.
I decided in September that I will not pay them as it is an insurance product and will hopefully lapse on its own-only for vodacom to cancel my cellphone service - when I called them on the 7th and 8th of november they advised that they couldn’t cancel because I have an outstanding amount due- this is inaccurate- I stoped paying due to their failure to cancel my insurance.
My credit score is now being affected by this and vodacom still has been of no help. They advise they will get back to me when I called them today on the 8th November and they have advised on several occasions that they would refund all my payments from March, but I still am billed every month with No refunds.
Spoke to Primrose Pula.
Team leader handling this directly for a week after I spoke to her. Today we are told that it is with the ops manager not based in their offices and whom they rarely see and are replying to in emails for communication. That is why it is taking this long. Yet we dealt with call centre agents in the query department on several occassions via calls logged and according to them it has been handed over to her and what they call authorities to resolve. This goes on day by day and week by week and no results are seen. Nothing has changed in my situation. Phone is suspended. Below average credit score. Still being billed. No refund has been given. All a big mess. Just to cancel my insurance I have gone through this agony of making calls regularly to get some feedback or results.
