I am a single divorced mom of 3 who lost my job in February 2022. In March 2022 after numerous times visiting the local UIF branch (they were either closed for COVID / no water/power) I claimed UIF via the online platform. I answered a question wrong, after numerous phone calls and 2 months later the UIF offices only resent my registration details so I could log in. I couldn't attach my documents, phoned in again and they said someone will get back to me within a week. I contacted the UIF complaints department sent emails WITHOUT ANY REPLY. After numerous emails and phone calls and exactly 4 months later, they requested my documents via email again (I have sent them via email 6 times already, each time having to go to the bank to get the latest U8 filled in). The latest ticket I have C20220725-... I asked how long this process will take as the last update on my UIF platform was 15/07/2022. NO ONE is getting back to me at all. Not the complaints department, when I phone in they tell me to please have patience!! For 4 months I did a bit of temp work here and there to support my children and the stress and anxiety of me not getting a job or STRUGGLING SO LONG TO GET HELP FROM OUR GOVERMENT is enough for any mom to want to jump of a building! I Scotland the goverment IMMEDIATELY ASSIST you when you lost your job, or give you money to buy clothes, or have transport to interviews. UIF in SA is the only means in which we can really get help AND EVEN THIS ONE THING TAKES FOREVER!! No wonder crime is high, and people are commiting suicide, AND THE SAD THING IS NO ONE ACTUALLY CARES! NO ONE!
