Telkom Mobile - Debiting of an account for a cancelled insurance policy

I took a cell phone contract with Telkom in February 2022. I left the store without activating insurance, few days down the line was called by someone from Telkom selling me an insurance, I took the offer, but after few days got a better offer elsewhere, tried calling to cancel the insurance to cancel without success.

I stopped the debit order and no one called me, the second debit order did not go through then the insurance got cancelled due to 2 instalments that failed. A month after receiving the confirmation of the cancellation, I was then debited an amount of R935 by Telkom, I went to the bank to reverse and stop it.

Then received a call from a collection company stating that I have an account in arrears, After explaining what was the problem, I was requested to submit the cancellation letter and copy of my ID so that the collection company can close the file, now Telkom is trying to debit my account again, I called the collection company they confirmed that the file was closed, called the insurance and they confirmed that the file has been closed from their side, so I have to call the billing department from Telkom, spoke to 3 different consultants who tells me that the insurance is an account and I have to pay for the months that were not paid even if the insurance has lapsed.

No one is able to give an explanation, the insurance says they do not perform any deductions and from their side the policy is cancelled ,Telkom consultants claims that the money is needed for the insurance.

I went through the policy documents again, I cannot find a clause that states that i will be liable for missed payments if the policy lapses.
