I purchased a Kenwood processor with liquidizer from Takealot on 03 July 2021 and it was delivered on 07 July 2021. As I work abroad for most of the year, I used this product not more than 3 or four times after receiving it, and then used it again on 05 July 2022, when I returned back to the country to liquidise soft boiled vegetables for soup. While the vegetables were liquidising, a piece of the plastic in the jug shot out of the jug which resulted in my liquidised vegetables seeping out of the hole. I took photos of the jug, then washed it to check for any cracks in the plastic jug. No cracks were found, just the small piece that shot out. I immediately logged a return with Takealot, because I felt that there was a defect in the plastic of the jug. Takealot arranged for collection, and sent it to their warehouse for inspection. I received a reply from Takealot on 08 July, to say that the item was broken, which voided the warranty. I replied back to them explaining to them the circumstances and sent the oictures to them, and they replied to say that the warranty had expired and they would not replace it , but would be sending the item back. I replied again to say that I only took ownership of the product on 07 July 2021 upon delivery, and the return was logged on 05 July 2022, so it was still within the 12 month warranty. They said they would take it up with the warehouse again, because I also requested a report from the warehouse to tell me how it was my fault that a piece of the plastic shot out from the jug, since there were no cracks or anything other than the hole where the plastic shot out. This back and forth went on until the 31st July when I sent my last email to them to which they are still yet to reply to. I purchase lots of stuff from Takealot so I find this blatant lack of interest in this problem and passing the buck totally unacceptable.
