I have been coming weekly to Nu Metro to ask for any posters of any movie that has finished showing on the circuit. I have been going to Nu Metro Menlyn for over 5 years every Friday to do this. I have been told by the various managers that I must speak to the projectionist to ask for posters. Thabiso and I have developed a respectful friendship over the years. Recently I asked for a standup of the dinosaur from Jurassic World. I have been asking for it for over 3 months. I do understand how the system works and I have waited patiently. I have spoken to the manager at Menlyn and he also explained to me that he can't give the standup as yet as there are bare wire all along the walls of the entrance into the cinema. They are using the standups to cover this so the public don't get shocked. This is a total breach of Health and Safety and I was dumbfounded. I reminded Thabiso every week that I would still like the standup. I arrived at Nu Metro today 7 October to find the dinosaur standup gone. When I politely asked the manager what had happened to it he rudely answered that I am not the only one to ask and that he had given it to someone else. Probably for a nice bribe. I have spent 5 years building up a friendly respectful relationship with the staff and this has now been destroyed. The manager said I have no right to ask him for anything or question his decisions. He was extremely hostile and rude and he basically threw me out of the complex. I am very disappointed in his lack of integrity and honesty. He reflects very badly on the image Nu Metro is trying to create. I am a school teacher and I display the posters in my classroom to the great delight of the students. The manager was so disrespectful and said in future he would destroy any poster rather than give them to me. I feel very sorry for Thabiso who was obviously overridden by the unpleasant man.
