Good day I am writing this open email with deep disappointment in an NSFAS I would like to start by saying I feel this is unprofessional an unethical of an institution with such high standards my name is Thandeka Julies residing in Upington in the Northern Cape I am and long distance student studying at Northwest university my final year Grade R diploma pursuing my B ed already accepted awaiting my final results which I know will pass with flying colours to begin with I started studying 2015 and due to financial circumstances I could not continue my studies 2022 I continued my studies with what I had to offer in a struggled way I passed and 2023 presumed my final year I applied for a bursary at NSFAS cause I knew I was unable to do this myself I was approved the last day before registration I saw the hand of God in this his love and faithfulness was visible all over throughout the year I emailed and called NSFAS the few times I was lucky to speak to someone they assured me I should be at ease I was funded and they just waited for my registration details from North west university I also contacted them and told them that NSFAS is awaiting as they kept sending me emails of my outstanding funds I was even asked to onboarded narraco continuously and my university said they would communicate with us as to when we can onboard again I called NSFAS and they tried to assist me, today a few weeks before my historical last exam I had to take it upon myself and call NSFAS to enquire about my Bursary I was informed that I was indeed funded my registration details were send in august by the university my bursary was finalized early October but a block was put for funds disbursed and the consultant said I should hold on as I did she came back and informed me that there was a message that said that I cannot receive funding due to the fact that I was a north west university long distance student and I could not receive funding as they only fund Unisa and one other Tvet college that was the exact words I was shocked I was numb I couldn't move my first thought was how could the devil come and take the only thing I trusted god with and destroy that I tried to understand but I couldn't and I had to call again this time I was caller 79 I waited 59:34 minutes and while waiting so much went through my head I couldn't stop my tears for 9 years I struggled to just get and honest qualification and do what my passion in life was and this was what awaited me all this years, nowhere when applied it showed or I was informed that NSFAS does not fund NWU long distance students and at that only Unisa before I applied I did my homework and found out that NSFAS does fund long distance I also search and ask does they fund NWU student long distance and it still says yes till today I spoke to numerous NSFAS consultants during this year none ever informed me and each time I disclosed that Iam a distance student all the time and nobody cared to inform me the student that Iam being misled the whole time,Nwu also knew Iam a old student and if they were aware of this I think they would have told me I fell deeply I can't even explain what Iam feeling even when whoever received my registration from the university now one bothered to pick up the phone or send an email just to inform this poor student to make arrangements because she won't be funded it just went blindly form hand to hands until the last person put the message there and didn't care enough to ask someone to inform the student a student who was awaiting full of hope to see that here funds were fully paid for. I feel someone must account for what I am going through right now I have confirmation from 2 other North Northwest University long-distance student that was fully funded during the years 2021 and 2022 and I am certain there are more Can someone please rectify this? I have all my correspondence and approved SMS, dates when I called and spoke to NSFAS, and emails till today.
I plead to whoever holds the authority
