I was transported to hospital at 10pm by ambulance in severe pain that I could not move. I lay on my floor for two hours before going to hospital. I was treated in casualty till 3am Monday morning with no relief. I was admitted to hospital where a Neuro-surgeon saw me and sent me for a MRI. I stayed in hospital for 3 days. The MRI showed that my screws from a operation 20 years ago had bent and came loose. The Neuro-surgeon had then decided that I would have to have a operation and discharged me as we had to get authorization from Medihelp first before the operation could take place. Medihelp is refusing to pay my account for the 3 days that I was treated in hospital. I have since had the operation. They also refused to pay the casualty fees. I feel we pay so much for medical aid but this was an EMERGENCY for which I had no control over. This has now left me with more than R20 000 worth of medical bills that they are not paying. I am unemployed at the moment and feeling very stressed regarding these bills. Please can you help.
