I received a call from a person identifying themselves as an employee of Vodacom with an offer to upgrade/migrate my Vodacom contract to an alternative package, supposedly more cost effective. I listened to the proposal but it quickly became evident that the information provided by the individual was incorrect, inflated and and clearly with the intent of convincing me that the new offer would cost me less, all based on false information. I contacted Vodacom to confirm that this call was indeed from Vodacom. It turned out that the call came from an agent representing Elite Mobile, an agent of Vodacom but not an employee. There was clearly an attempt to sign me up for an alternative contract based on false information.
