On Saturday 17 June 2023 , I went to Dischem Valley view to collect Medication.
I went home and took the medicine.
Dischem phoned me 10 minutes after taking the medication and advised me it was the incorrect medication and I need to immediately take the medication back.
I advised the Lady that I already took the Medication and she insisted that it was okay and I need to bring the medication back.
I drove back to Dischem (8.9km) when I got to Dischem they advised me that I was given Codeine and not Cortisone. (My Bottle still read cortisone with instruction to take 4 tablets)
I told the lady that I feel very light headed and my palms are sweaty.
At that stage I had no idea what Codeine was or the seriousness of the situation.
Also, I was heavily medicated and she still insisted that I should drive to Dischem to return the medication.
I was advised by Dischem to go home and try to vomit and someone needs to keep an eye on me.
On Saturday , I became so sick , I vomited , was light headed and nauseous, my palms were sweaty and I was in bed the whole day.
On Sunday night my Fiancé had to take me to Netcare Pinehaven Hospital at 1h00am in the after feeling sick. I was put on a drip.
On Monday , 19 June 2023 I was advised by Dischem that it was a schedule 6 medication and 30mg Codeine. They also advised that they could not share their report with me since I am part of the Public. They however did show me the camera footage where you could see that the Pharmacist never counted out my medication, he took a bottle off the counter and then put my medication label on it.
Since the 17th of June 2023, I have not received any correspondence from Dischem to confirm that they will reimburse me for the medical expenses that I have incurred.
Incident date: 29 June 2023
