I bought a ring at American Swiss Kolonnade on Thursday the 27th of October, size M. The ring was too big so I took it to be resized on Monday the 30th of October. I had my original enagement ring on, so I gave it to her as a reference to the size, which is K and a half. She then decided to measure my finger, but they only had a K, not in between sizes, and K was so small, it didn't even get to the middle of my finger, so instead of checking everything nicely, She wrote down K and a half and had it resized. Today, I went to pick up my ring and it is too small. I showed the lady that helped me - Charmone - that the ring is too small, and explained how the previous girl measured and that she then just assumed that the 2 rings are the same, she then proceeded to try and blame me for the sizing mistake, due to having them measure my original engagement ring, because THEY didn't have the right tools to measure my size. I then told her that this is unacceptable, I don't work with jewelery, I don't know the correct processes of measurement and as the proffessionals, it is their job to ensure that everything is done correctly and take into account everything that could possibly have an impact on the resizing and to not just assume because they are too lazy to do it the right way. She then asked me "Aren't your hands just swollen?", to which I responded "No" and showed her how my original enagement ring comfortably comes off and comfortably gets put on without stopping my blood from freaking flowing! She then proceeded to say that the sizes may differ because the new band is a bit thicker than the other. SO WHY DIDN"T THEY THEN TAKE THIS INTO ACCOUNT WHEN THEY MEASURED IT??????? HOW MUST I KNOW THESE THINGS????? She then just continued to say, with attitude "I wasn't there, so I don't know how or if it was measured incorrectly" , I told her that I am very upset with the client services because it is not my fault that they didn't do their job right, it is not my job to ensure that it is done correctly because I have no knowledge whatsoever of the topic. She then told me if I want it resized again, I must pay R350 AGAIN. Why must I pay if your reps can't do their jobs correctly? The previous lady should've measured everything correctly before assuming that they would be exactly the same, especially if it is now mentioned that the band thickness differ! My first and very last time dealing with American Swiss, you're staff is absolutely useless in client services, and they have no knowledge of how to work with jewelery. DO BETTER! The right thing to do is to say "Sorry Ma'am, let me re-measure it so we can get the right size and get this sorted for you - free of charge, considering you already paid R350 and the resizing is wrong". Can't believe that we live in a country where it is okay to treat clients like this, customers are the reason why you are able to keep your doors open.
